Identifying sustainable estuarine management opportunities requires a detailed understanding of community needs and broad acre estuarine processes.
However, in many cases management actions are focused on the most vocal proponents (i.e. the squeaky wheels). To overcome short-term reactionary management, a holistic evidence-based approach is required. This is particularly important when assessing complex estuary wide water quality issues involving various spatial and temporal scales such as acid sulfate soils.
